Community Engagement and Resident Communications Manager

What it’s all about:

This newly created role sits at the heart of our Building Safety Unit – a dedicated unit that brings together expertise from Cavendish Advocacy and our parent company, BECG Group. 

You’ll be part of an award winning team, that has received national recognition for its leading communications expertise.

We work with some of the UK’s largest Housing Associations and housebuilders, helping them to communicate with their residents and communities in order to manage some of the biggest issues in housing today – from building and fire safety, to ongoing issues management.

The role brings together local political and stakeholder engagement, together with residents and community engagement, and would suit a candidate who is looking to move from a housing association, council or inhouse role, into a vibrant and exciting agency.

Experience in crisis and local political would be desirable, but not required. If you’re passionate about communications and engagement, and have experience of the built environment, we’re keen to hear from you.    

What you’ll need to have:

  • Strong and demonstratable communications skills – with a real passion for resident communications and stakeholder engagement.
  • A real desire to be a broad communicator – and keen to develop your communication skills across resident communications, media relations, reputation management, as well as an interest in local and national policy issues
  • If you haven’t yet worked on crisis communications projects, you’ll be eager to learn and quickly develop these skills by working closely with Directors.
  • An interest in working on some of the most high-profile crisis and issues management concerns in the built environment, including the fire and building safety crisis in England and Wales.
  • Demonstratable drive, commitment and a focus to producing work of the highest standard.
  • Attention to detail, excellent workload management and willingness be a good team player.
  • Existing understanding of and relationships with politicians, media, and prospective clients.

What you’ll need to do:

  • You will be responsible for supporting and delivering award-winning integrated communications campaigns, with a focus on resident and local stakeholder engagement.
  • From research and intelligence gathering to resident and community liaison, you’ll be a key lead for your clients.
  • Your role will stretch across organising meetings with key residents, political and media stakeholders, as you help to plan and achieve your clients’ objectives.
  • Ideally, the morning papers are your favourite read with housing and built environment events being an opportunity to widen your network to secure new business. You will be energetic, willing to learn and determined to progress.
